New Foundation President Joins the Good Sam Team
Please join Good Samaritan Hospital in welcoming Marc S. Martens as the new President of Samaritan Health Foundation. Mr. Martens comes on board as Kay Tormey retires on May 14.
Most recently, Martens held a senior level position in the Development Department at the University of Dayton. He was the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Director of Development for the UD Research Institute. His previous experience includes governmental and community relations leadership roles with Delphi Corporation. Martens is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, USAF. He retired in 1999 from the Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as The Director of Public Affairs. Highlight assignments included media support for the Bosnian Peace Talks and UN efforts in Somalia.
An active community leader, Martens serves on the boards of the Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, Greater Dayton-Cincinnati Ohio Area Public Television (Media Connect), and United Way of the Greater Dayton Area. He is a member of Dayton Rotary and is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Ohio.
As he takes the helm, he wants to explore new donor bases, grow a culture of giving, increase community engagement on hospital priorities and ensure a purposeful approach to Foundation relations. “Kay has left a wonderful legacy to the Samaritan Health Foundation,” states Martens. “I am honored to succeed her and look forward to personally partnering with our many generous donors.”
