Vascular Screenings

Education, early detection and intervention may minimize the impact of heart disease and/or stroke. Life Line Screening on behalf of Dayton Heart and Vascular Hospital at Good Samaritan is performing vascular screenings in your area. If you are at risk of having heart disease and/or stroke, Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital encourages you to participate.

Using non-invasive, ultrasound technology, Life Line Screening offers the following for $139:

  1. Carotid Artery Screening – Visualizes the build-up of plaque in the carotid arteries, which may lead to stroke (most strokes are linked to carotid artery blockage).
  2. Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib) – A test to measure irregular heart beats; having A-fib increases your risk of stroke 5 times and may lead to congestive heart failure.
  3. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Test – Looks for an enlargement in the abdominal aorta that could lead to a ruptured aortic artery. The majority of people who have had an aneurysm had no prior symptoms.
  4. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) – Screens for peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in the lower-extremities; PAD is closely linked to coronary artery disease.

An Osteoporosis (bone thinning) Risk Assessment may be done for an additional $10.

Each screening requires about 10 minutes to complete.
