Ray of Hope Breakfast Raises Hope for Samaritan Homeless Clinic
September 2010 - Intended to increase homelessness awareness within the community, the Ray of Hope Breakfast, held on September 22nd, did just that while also raising $22,000.
Held under a tent owned and managed by the Dayton Marriott, the venue served as a reminder of what it is like to live without the comfort of a permanent home.
Several patients shared with guests their experiences at Samaritan Homeless Clinic and how the Clinic empowered them to get back on their feet. Brian Battle, who is currently housed in a subsidized apartment and is a student a Sinclair Community College, moved the audience with his story of transformation from a life of violence to a life of love, thanks to helped provided by the Clinic. Donors Jeff and Connie Sawdey spoke with gratitude for the Clinic giving their brother the means to manage mental health issues.
With contributions from seventeen sponsors and many donations made by those present, the Ray of Hope Breakfast was a success.
The second annual Ray of Hope will be held on September 21, 2011.
