Good Samaritan Hospital-Dayton to Hold Student Healthcare Career Exploration Event October 14

DAYTON, OHIO, October 12, 2009 - Good Samaritan Hospital will offer area high school students and their parents the opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare at GSH Healthcare Career Exploration on October 14. The event, the first of its kind offered by Good Samaritan Hospital, will be held at the Good Samaritan North Education Center on Wednesday, October 14, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  

Students will have an opportunity to discuss health care careers with medical and non-medical Good Samaritan Hospital staff, including nursing, speech therapy, security, dietetics, lab technician, human resources, nuclear medicine, physician, information technology, ultrasound technician, EMT and many more.

Three area universities, including Wright State, Sinclair and Edison State, will also be present to help students understand academic requirements and admission policies for their healthcare education programs.

This is a free event.  Pre-registration is preferred, and those who do will be registered for special door prizes.  To pre-register, call CareFinders at 1-866-608-FIND (3463).

Over the past two years, Good Samaritan Hospital has developed partnership agreements with 12 local schools to deliver sports medicine services and for naming rights of various school buildings and/or sport complexes. Through these agreements, Good Samaritan not only provides student athletes with on-site certified athletic training and sports medicine services, but also supports the schools with science education, health and wellness programs for employees, and opportunities for students to learn about careers in health sciences.
