Fall Lecture Lineup for the Sylvan Lee Weinberg Distinguished Lecturer Series
Next Cardiac Lecture will be September 16, Featuring Dr. Daniel Ullyot
DAYTON, OHIO, September 10, 2009 –The Dayton Heart Institute, an affiliate of Good Samaritan Hospital, has announced the Fall 2009 lineup for the Distinguished Lecturer Series named in honor of Dr. Sylvan Lee Weinberg, former President of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Daniel Ullyot, Former Chair of the American College of Cardiology, and Vice Chair of California Technology Assessment Forum will give a lecture, titled “The Assessment of New Medical Technology: Implications on Health Care Reform” on Wednesday, September 16, at the Moraine Country Club. The event will begin at 6:15 PM with a light reception. There is no charge for the program and it is open to the public; reservations are requested.
“Dr. Sylvan Weinberg has dedicated his life to cardiac education,” said Dr. David Joffe, President, Dayton Heart Institute. “There is no better way to honor Dr. Weinberg’s life’s work than by continuing to raise awareness and encourage others learn about current trends and research in the field of cardiology. “
Dr. Weinberg, who will moderate the lectures, was the Editor-in-Chief of Accel, the American College of Cardiology’s international audio-tape journal of cardiovascular medicine and surgery from 1985 to 2000 and founding co-editor of Heart & Lung from 1972 to 1985.
“The objective of this series is to bring to Dayton nationally known leaders in the field of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery. This will give the doctors and nurses in the Dayton area the chance to learn and interact at a personal level with pivotal leaders in Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Practice, “said Dr. Weinberg.
