Good Samaritan Hospital-Dayton Samaritan Breast Center Earns National Recognition

DAYTON, OHIO, August 24, 2009 – The Samaritan Breast Center at Good Samaritan North Health Center has been granted full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The Samaritan Breast Center is the only one in Dayton and among three in Ohio to receive this accreditation.

According to the American College of Surgeons, a breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated its ability to provide not only advanced diagnostic procedures but also the most current treatment approaches and quality outcomes.

“We were pleased to exceed the 27 standards set by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers,” said Dr. Thomas Heck, Co-Medical Director of the Samaritan Breast Center. “With our focus on advanced detection and treatment of breast cancer, the Samaritan Breast Center collaborates with the Samaritan Cancer Center and Samaritan North Surgery Center to provide comprehensive screening, diagnostic, and treatment procedures at one location.”

Receiving this accreditation ensures that patients of the Samaritan Breast Center will have access to comprehensive care, a full range of state-of-the-art services, a multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options, and the most current clinical trials.
