Adult Asthma Education
Location: GSH Dayton
Anyone age 18 or older can have free, on-on-one education with our asthma educator.

Back to Work and Breastfeeding
Location: The Stork Room of The Family Birthing Center (7th floor of the south building)
Going back to work or school? This class, taught by an IBCLC breastfeeding specialist, offers advice for choosing and using a breast pump, breast milk storage, communication with your employer and babysitters, your infant nursing schedule and more. Babies are welcome!
Fee: $30 for one class

Diabetes Education
Location: Samaritan Diabetes Center, 80 E. Woodbury Drive, Dayton
Just learned you have diabetes? More than a year since you had formal diabetes education? Attend group classes and a one-on-one consultation with a dietitian and/or diabetes educator.
Fee:  Vary and are covered by most insurance with a physician's order.

Health Ministries

Infant Massage Class
Location: The Stork Room of The Family Birthing Center (7th floor of the south building)
Once your baby has arrived, bring him or her to a class designed to help you create some special bonding time. This class will teach basic techniques of Infant massage and infant soothing. Mom, baby, and support person are welcome!

Get Moving Again!
Location: Good Samaritan North Health Center
This ten-week diabetes management program is designed for people with diabetes to get started with exercise even if they have never exercised before. A dietitian/exercise physiologist and nurse will help you manage your diet and control your blood sugar as you increase your activity level. This ongoing 10-week program (Tuesdays and Thursday 3:00 to 4:30pm every week)
Fee:  Covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare. An exercise waiver and an order from your physician required. Participants may continue to exercise after program completion for $35 a month.

Online Childbirth Class (NEW in 2009!)
Location: Online
Are you too busy to attend a class at a scheduled time? Do you want to be able to review basic information at your convenience as often as you’d like? Would you like to practice the relaxation techniques in the comfort and privacy of your own home? With this new approach to Childbirth Education you can have it all! When you register, you will receive a childbirth manual and a unique PIN number to access the companion website with video clips, printable information and web links to additional information. This may be taken along with another birthing class at the hospital, if desired.

Personalized Nutrition Counseling at GSH Dayton
Location: Good Samaritan North Health Center and Good Samaritan Hospital
Personalized Nutrition Counseling (Medical Nutrition Therapy). Healthy eating can help lower blood pressure, reduce weight, control blood sugars and blood lipids, as well as reduce the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. Making permanent healthy lifestyle choices can decrease the need for medications, saving costly co-pays (as much as $120 - $400 per year per prescription). Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian.
By Appointment only. Initial appointments generally last 90 minutes. Follow up appointments vary in length by goals to accomplish.

Fee: 90 minute session is $150, which may be covered by some insurance plans.

Resteasy Insomnia Treatment
Location: Samaritan Sleep Center at Good Samaritan North Health Center
The Resteasy Insomnia Treatment is a new approach to an old problem. Learn to sleep again without medication. Initial consultation by a physician is covered by most insurance programs.  Five treatment sessions with a Registered Nurse over eight weeks will cost $120.

Samartian North Athletic Performance Program (SNAPP)
Location: Good Samaritan North Health Center
The SNAPP program increases strength, speed, and conditioning. It is available for those between the ages of 12 and 55. Appointments are available between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Fee: $300 for 20 sessions

SportsMetrics
Location: Good Samaritan North Health Center
This is a jump training and ACL injury prevention program for female athletes. Appointments are available 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sports Motion
Location: Good Samaritan North Health Center
As Dayton's only biomechanical video analysis program, the Sports Motion program offers a complete breakdown and high-speed video analysis of active biomechanics from running and baseball to golf and basketball with mechanical corrections from our sports medicine and rehabilitation specialist. We can utilize state-of-the-art equipment to capture and analyze any activity. Appointments are available 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Fee: $75 for initial evaluation; $25 for follow-up evaluations
