Employee Education

At Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH), we believe our success depends on the quality of our relationships with our patients, co-workers, and community members. Our diversity process enriches our efforts to build a healthier community.

Employee Education Opportunities

Diversity training is a core management competency required of GSH management staff members. Several opportunities are provided throughout the year to nurture personal and professional growth. In addition to the opportunities highlighted below, the hospital hosts an annual Diversity Leadership forum where nationally recognized leaders in the field of diversity and inclusion provide an outside perspective and challenge us to think outside our frame of reference.

Understanding Grows When We Engage in Healthy Dialogue

Diversity education is offered to all employees (both clinical and non-clinical), managers, supervisors, volunteers, and medical staff. The purpose of these interactive educational sessions is to increase cultural competency and demonstrate the relationship between patient care and interpersonal relationships through case studies, handouts, discussion, lecture, videos, and exercises. Some of the sessions are mandatory, while others are voluntary. Some are offered upon employment, while others are offered specifically to new managers. All participants complete an evaluation, which determines the extent to which program objectives are achieved.
